The Audubon Zoo in New Orleans

The Audubon Zoo
The Audubon Zoo is not just a regular zoo! Not that there is anything wrong with a typical zoo, but there are too many in the US that actually have fun family activities to do. The neat feature about The Audubon Zoo is that they have creatively developed an overnight adventure for families! The Audubon Zoo is always trying to come up with something innovative to bring families together.

If you and your family are early risers than the Early Morning at the Zoo special is just for you! This event is held every Saturday morning from 8:00 am to 10:00am. Guess what they will serve you will you are there? That is right they will serve you breakfast and the take you and the kids on a behind the scenes tour of how the zoo is run and how they take care of their animals. For members of the zoo the cost is $150 for a family of four and non-members it costs $180 for a family of four.

So, if you prefer to spend the 8:00 am to 10:00 am at home in the bed, I can totally respect that! If you would like to take the tikes later on in the day maybe towards evening there is still something special for you! You can go on the Twilight Trek, just bring your own dinner and you can picnic in one of the park like areas. After you and your family have enjoyed a Twilight dinner, then you will go on a private tour after hours with a naturalist. The Twilight Tours are conducted from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm. The fee for members is $10 and the fee for non members is $12.

How would you like to camp at the Zoo? I would love it! Prepare by bringing your own food (for dinner) and sleeping bags. At night families will get to go into various exhibits and see the animals face to face! For those of you who would rather stay behind you can do crafts and other creative activities. In the morning the Zoo keeper will feed you a continental breakfast, before your morning tour of the zoo. For members the rate is $36 for a family of four and $43 for a family of four. If you are interested in this family fun adventure make your reservations early, because this adventure fills up quickly! It’s easy you can either call the visitors center or go on the website to make reservations.
