Visiting the Griffith Observatory
The Griffith Observatory is located in the West Los Angeles California area. As you probably knw Griffith Observatory had been closed for like one hundred years getting remolded. Well, ok not one hundred years, but it was closed for a few years. Now Griffith Observatory is better than ever and there is so much to see and do for adults as well as children. The grand new opening of the Samuel Oschin Planetarium is truly something to see at the Griffith Observatory. The Samuel Oschin Planetarium is centered in the Universe. No, not really that is actually the name of one of the live narrated animated shows to watch while you are there. The show is much more vibrant and exciting than it was before the Samuel Oschin Planetarium was remolded. If you want to see any of the Planetarium shows you must order tickets as soon as you get to the Griffith Observatory. Unfortunately, they do not have it set up yet where you can order your tickets in advance. So, go on the website and check out what time the show of your choice plays and try to get there at least twenty minutes early. The tickets will sell out, because they are set to sell on a first come first serve basis. The Planetarium Show lasts for about half an hour. Be on time though, because they do not let late comers in. Lastly, the Griffith Observatory recommends that no children under the age of five come to this show; it might be a little to dramatic for any kid under five. In order to pick up your tickets you need to stop by the Planetarium Box Office. The box office is just to left when you enter the building. There is also an automated ticket dispenser where you can purchase your tickets with a credit card. Before the show there is a cafe to grab a bite to eat or restrooms to the right of the Rotunda. Griffith Observatory is located at 2800 East Observatory Road, Los Angeles, Ca. 90027. The general information line is 213-473-0800 and the reservation line is 1-888-695-0888. The website is another alternative to making reservations at www.griffithobservatory.org. The Observatory is open Tuesday through Friday from noon to 10:00 pm and Saturday through Sunday from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. Parking is often an issue and many people end up having to park down the hill, which makes it a long walk up. However, there are shuttles that go down to pick people up, be sure to be waiting by the shuttle station. |
